Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance, a South Shore practice specializing in unique programs that provide comprehensive treatment in orthopedic, spine and sports medicine specialties, has named Ashley Mahan as Director of Pelvic Health for their three private pelvic health clinics located in Norwell, Scituate and their new clinic in Braintree.

Mahan earned a doctorate from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in Boston. She also holds an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from UMass Amherst. She has specialized training in the evaluation and treatment of pelvic health conditions through Herman &Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and APTA for both men and women.

Mahan is trained in treating pregnancy, post-partum and beyond in conditions including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, and bowel dysfunction. Her goal is to deliver compassionate, patient centered care in order to have individuals meet their personal goals.

With pelvic clinics in existing in Norwell and Scituate, the Braintree clinic opened this year at 501 John Mahar Highway, Suite 100 in the same building as Peak’s original Braintree orthopedic clinic location. The private pelvic health clinic features six individual treatment rooms for men and women. There is also a larger area that is used for group classes such as pre and post partum yoga, and fitness classes for post partum women with instruction on how to exercise safely.

Peak has a team of physical therapists who specialize in women’s and men’s pelvic health conditions, and will provide non-surgical and non-medicinal options for a number of conditions. The therapists evaluate each patient to identify the source of the problem and then develop an individualized treatment plan. The program offers evaluations and treatments for a variety of conditions including bladder and urinary dysfunction, bowel dysfunction, pelvic pain, pre and post-natal low back pain, prostate cancer rehab, Diastasis Recti, sexual dysfunction and more.

“The treatments offered at our pelvic health clinics are in great demand,” said Eric Edelman, PT and owner of Peak Physical Therapy and Sports Performance. “Ashley is specifically trained in creating individualized treatment plans that can address our patients’ specific issues and help them to create a better quality of life. She is a talented practitioner and manager who will oversee our pelvic health clinics.”
