Edgartown, MA –Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank Charitable Fund awarded three grants in its first quarter cycle totaling $7,135 to Island nonprofits: Friends of Edgartown Public Library’s “Summer Music on the Lawn” series, Martha’s Vineyard Cancer Support Group Inc., for its “Evening Under the Stars” benefit, and Island Community Chorus for its “Cantata for Mezzo Soprano & Chorus,” based on the life and writings of Nancy Luce of West Tisbury.
All three non-profits provide various and key services to the Island’s residents:  Friends of Edgartown Public Library “is an association of volunteers who support the Library and its programs, and promote the use of the Library as a vital community resource;” the Martha’s Vineyard Cancer Support Group Inc. provides both financial assistance and emotional support to Island cancer patients with the aim “to enhance the quality of life for Vineyard cancer patients, survivors, and their families, by providing temporary and emergency financial assistance” – which is primarily used for travel expenses not covered by insurance; and the Island Community Chorus that “fosters the singing and enjoyment of choral music and presents public concerts.”
“Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank Charitable Fund is thrilled to perpetually support the Island’s invaluable non-profit organizations,” said James Anthony, President & CEO of Martha’s Vineyard Bank.
The next deadline date for grant application submission, which includes “Educational Mini Grant” applications, is May 23, 2019 for the second quarter cycle ending in June.
