Mashpee Commons celebrates the official start of summer on Saturday, June 25, with the kick-off of a week of free, family-friendly events.
A block party featuring live music, face painting, balloon twists, a photo wall, corn hole and gift card contests takes place Saturday and also later this summer on July 16 and Aug. 13.
The first “Balloon Twist Tuesday” happens Tuesday, June 28, in Central Square from noon to 2 p.m. Every Tuesday through Aug. 30, complimentary balloon twists will be available and children will receive a token for a free kid-sized ice cream cone at Ghelfi’s Candies while quantities last.
The Mashpee Commons outdoor summer movie nights get under way Thursday, June 30, at 9 p.m. with a showing of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Movie nights will be held every Thursday through Aug. 25 on the Village Green, located across from the Mashpee Public Library on Steeple Street and Job’s Fishing Road.
