Massachusetts Maritime Academy Partners with Milton CAT

BUZZARDS BAY, MA, ISSUED SEPTEMBER 25, 2024…Massachusetts Maritime Academy(MMA), a top-ranked public university with undergraduate degree programs focusing on science, engineering, technology, math, and business that blend academics and experiential learning, is pleased to announce a partnership with Milton CAT, the source for Caterpillar machines, engines, generators, parts, and service in the Northeast. The multi-year agreement places Milton CAT as one of the largest corporate sponsors of Buccaneer Athletics.
 
The collaboration aims to enhance the student-athlete experience at the Academy, including the financial support of new gym equipment and improvements to playing fields. Milton CAT will be named sponsor of the Buccaneers fall home football broadcast, produced by Southcoast Sports, a division of Wareham Community Television.  Milton CAT is also sponsoring women’s sports nutrition stations that provide all women’s athletic teams with protein shakes and other nutritional aids.
 
The MMA Athletic Department will also collaborate with Milton CAT to host the first annual Veteran’s Appreciation Games, details of which will be forthcoming.
 
The MMA Buccaneers currently offers varsity sports including baseball, men’s and women’s crew, men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, co-ed sailing, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s track & field, and volleyball.
“Partnering with Massachusetts Maritime Academy makes good sense for us on a number of levels,” said Milton CAT Marketing Director Dean Swartz. “Milton CAT has been fortunate to hire many MMA graduates over the years and we anticipate that many alumni will be working with our marine engines or power generation products throughout their careers. Developing closer ties with MMA has been a goal of ours for years and we are excited that it has finally happened.”
