Massachusetts Maritime Academy to Host First Annual Military Appreciation Games Sponsored by Milton CAT

BUZZARDS BAY, MA, ISSUED SEPTEMBER 27, 2024…Massachusetts Maritime Academy(MMA), a top-ranked public university with undergraduate degree programs focusing on science, engineering, technology, math, and business that blend academics and experiential learning, will host two military appreciation games  on October 2nd and October 4thsponsored by Milton CAT, the source for Caterpillar machines, engines, generators, parts, and service in the Northeast.
 
The Buccaneers Women’s Soccer Military Appreciation Game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2nd . The home game against Bay Path University will be held at 7:00 p.m. and will honor all active duty and veteran MMA community members.
 
The Football Military Appreciation Game will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4th, at home with the Buccaneers playing against the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth. The game will pay tribute to Freeman K. Johnson, a 104-year-old World War II and Pearl Harbor veteran, who graduated from the Massachusetts Nautical School (now Massachusetts Maritime Academy) in 1937.

McDonald, USMS, president of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. “The games provide an opportunity for the MMA community to come together, celebrate our veteran’s bravery, and acknowledge the invaluable contributions they have made to our country.”
 
The Academy and Milton CAT entered into a multi-year agreement in July, making Milton CAT one of the largest corporate sponsors of Buccaneer Athletics. The collaboration aims to enhance the student-athlete experience at the Academy, including the financial support of new gym equipment and improvements to playing fields. Milton CAT has been named sponsor of the Buccaneers fall home football broadcast, produced by Southcoast Sports, a division of Wareham Community Television.
