Massachusetts Maritime Academy to Host Women on the Water Conference February 29-March 2
BUZZARDS BAY, MA, ISSUED FEBRUARY 27, 2024…Media representatives are invited to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy at 101 Academy Drive, Buzzards Bay on Thursday, February 29 through Saturday, March 2 when the Academy in partnership with the U.S. Dept. of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) will host the Women on the Water Conference (WOW).

The three-day event will showcase the remarkable achievements of women in the maritime industry and highlight their essential contributions to the nation’s maritime workforce.
The conference features panel discussions, keynote speeches, mock interviews and networking events designed to prepare female cadets and maritime students for the ever-evolving maritime industry. Rear Admiral Ann C. Phillips, Administrator of MARAD is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the Academy’s Maritime Conference Center.
Additional highlights of the WOW Conference include a guided tour of the New Bedford Harbor, focusing on offshore wind, at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 2. During the tour, representatives from Clean Energy Center (CEC) the New Bedford Ocean Cluster (NBOC), and the New Bedford Port Authority will be on-hand to discuss the collaboration between private sector, public sector and academic partners to establish New Bedford as the leading ocean economy on the East Coast.
