MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Board (CIWB) has been named the 2023 Outstanding Youth Organization by the Philanthropy Partners of the Cape and Islands (PPCI).

The CIWB was recognized by PPCI for ArtWorks, its premier arts enrichment program that has matched artist mentors and high school students in hands-on intensive internships for more than 25 years in the region. In announcing the award, PPCI called ArtWorks “an invaluable asset to our region’s youth.”

“We are humbled and grateful to Philanthropy Partners of the Cape and Islands, and those who nominated us, to receive this prestigious award,” said CIWB Executive Director, Kara O’Donnell-Galvin. “ArtWorks is the epitome of collaboration, a core value that the CIWB emphasizes. ArtWorks continues to evolve and thrive and is a testament to our committed partnerships.”

In 2023, the CIWB assisted in placing more than 1,200 students across Cape Cod and the Islands in a variety of meaningful internships. In addition to ArtWorks, the CIWB offers many young adult initiatives that focus on career pathway education, STEM education, and personal development.

The award will be presented at the Philanthropy Partners’ 26th Annual Philanthropy Day on Cape Cod Conference, scheduled for Nov. 15 in Hyannis.
