Cape Cod Child Development has welcomed Nancy Sorbo as the new Interim Agency Director.
Sorbo replaces Anne Colwell, who served as the agency’s CEO since 2015. CCCD Board President Sheryl Walsh expressed appreciation for Ms. Colwell’s efforts on behalf of the agency: “Anne has decided to pursue other professional opportunities. She has worked hard to foster integral relationships with other non-profits and was instrumental in creating greater visibility for our programs and services. We are thankful for her leadership and contributions.”
Sorbo has been with CCCD – the largest child care, early education, Early Intervention and family support organization in the region – since 2016 as a member of the senior leadership team. In that capacity, she has been in charge of directing the agency’s Family Childcare and Pre-School Enrollment programs. Under her leadership, the Family Childcare program has expanded to include 44 providers serving 180 children throughout the mid-Cape Area. In addition, Sorbo and her team have spearheaded efforts to bring the agency’s Head Start enrollment to full-capacity.
“Cape Cod Child Development offers essential services for our community. We are extremely fortunate to have so many exceptional people throughout this organization. Nancy, in particular, has a real passion for helping and supporting families with 25 years of experience in various leadership roles in the healthcare and human services sector,” Walsh said.
Sorbo, who lives in Centerville with her husband and son, said she looks forward to leading the agency during this period of transition.
“As the regional Head Start organization and as a primary provider of vital child care, Early Intervention and educational services on Cape Cod, our commitment to the children and families we serve is a daily pursuit of excellence,” Sorbo said. “Providing a strong foundation for children entering school and offering the kind of family support services we do can benefit the entire community far beyond classroom walls.”
