The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce wants to know which local businesses have what it takes to be on the “The Barnstable Bucket List.”

This inaugural three-month event series is food-related and designed to entice people, both visitors and locals, to taste the top three foods that people love and crave in the summer, says chamber Executive Director and CEO Marty Bruemmel.

Restaurants, eateries, clam shacks and ice cream parlors in the seven villages of Barnstable are invited to compete for the chance to take home bragging rights as the 2023 Best of Barnstable, (for each category) and a coveted Golden Bucket Award.

The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce will provide participating restaurants with a QR Code that will allow visitors and locals to vote on their best restaurant each month. The best lobster rolls will be first up in July, followed by ice cream in August and chowder in September.

“This event series is designed to bring people through the doors of Barnstable businesses, create an exciting and fun competition in our community, and invoke nostalgia around some of our favorite summertime foods,” said Bruemmel. “Winning the Golden Bucket Award will quickly become something that every business will want to win.”

Businesses interested in participating can sign up online at www.hyannis.com/barnstables-bucket-list/. Participants will receive a sign with a QR code (that links to online voting) for placement in their establishment, and custom designed marketing materials to help promote the event.

Greater Hyannis Chamber members in good standing can participate at no charge. Non-members can participate for $50, however, they can opt to put that $50 credit towards a chamber membership.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and will provide promotional exposure at various levels. For more details, visit www.hyannis.com/barnstables-bucket-list.

Future Barnstable Bucket List event series will include other types of businesses, such as retail, services and more, Bruemmel said.
