Road to Responsibility (RTR; http://roadtoresponsibility.org), a nonprofit organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, announced today their recent collaboration with Planned Lifetime Assistance Network of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Inc. (PLAN of MA & RI).

Based in Needham, PLAN of MA & RI (www.planofma-ri.org) is a nonprofit organization serving people with disabilities – lifelong or related to illness, injury or age – helping them to preserve assets, to protect access to public benefits, and to live well by operating special needs pooled trusts.  PLAN offers individuals with disabilities, including the elderly, a lower-cost approach to special needs trusts.

In addition to serving as a sponsor for the recent 32nd annual Making Lives Better Gala, PLAN of MA & RI donated a week at Grotonwood (a $1,000 value), a Christian camp and conference center located in Groton, Mass., that offers a treasure trove of outdoor fun and recreation for adults with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities.

“Additionally, we are so excited to establish a stronger working relationship with Road to Responsibility,” said  Joan McGrath, executive director of PLAN of MA and RI.McGrath.  “Their work helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is in the same vein as our own work, and we realize there is much we may be able to learn from  and support each other,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to see this relationship develop,” said Christopher White,  CEO of Road to Responsibility.  “RTR and PLAN are so similar in terms of our constituencies served, we are so grateful for their support and look forward to a growing collaborative relationship in the months and years ahead!”
