Rockland Trust has been recognized as the 2021 number one lender to Minority Entrepreneurs by the Massachusetts office of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

In fiscal year 2021, 41 percent of the bank’s total SBA loans went to minority-owned businesses.

“It is critical that all small businesses have access and opportunity and can benefit from the American Dream of entrepreneurship,” said SBA Massachusetts District Director Robert H. Nelson. ” As we continue on the road to recovery, the SBA and the commitment from our lenders make a profound difference in ensuring small minority-owned businesses have fair access to capital.”

“Throughout the pandemic, our exceptional team has worked tirelessly to provide support and resources to all businesses in need,” said Robert Cozzone, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Retail and Business Banking at Rockland Trust. “We continue to be inspired by the perseverance of our local entrepreneurs and honored to work alongside them. This recognition is validation that the relationships we have built have been impactful, and we are grateful to our business customers for their continued confidence and trust.”

SBA loans are intended to help businesses that may not qualify for conventional loans get the funds they need to start, grow, and expand.
