Massachusetts Air And Space Museum will present a free seminar, “Aviation for Kids 8 to 80” on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the museum, rear of the North Street Parking Lot, 438 Main St. Hyannis. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The seminar will offer a brief view into the hobby of flying remote/radio controlled (R/C) aircraft. Speaker Colin Towers has been an R/C plane builder and pilot for more than 30 years and is currently a tour guide for the Massachusetts Air and Space Museum.
Towers will discuss how you can get started in the hobby; how to join a club, the costs involved, the training program and where to buy your first plane. He will review a short history of aviation and the basics of how aircraft actually work.Attendees will be able to experience R/C flying on a Flight Simulator and all attendees will be invited to visit the Discover Flying RC Club field (by appointment and subject to weather) for a free introductory flight of an RC aircraft with a club certified flight instructor.
