The South Shore Chamber of Commerce Hello! South Shore campaign, which assisted in the regional recovery from the economic impact of COVID-19, has been named one of 13 Communications Award of Excellence winners by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).

ACCE, an association based in Alexandria, Va., has more than 1,600 chambers of commerce and related business and economic development organizations as members, representing more than 9,000 professionals in the industry.

ACCE’s Awards for Communications Excellence program is designed to showcase top communications and marketing work of chambers of commerce and similar organizations. Several thousand award entries have been submitted since the launch of the competition, which is now in its 37th year.

The Hello South Shore campaign (www.hellosouthshore.com)  encouraged residents to think of “local” as more than their own neighborhood or town and promoted broader exploration in the region. The marketing campaign spotlighted many excursions across the 25 cities and towns throughout the South Shore. The excursions were designed to spotlight arts, culture, history, outdoors, food, shops, recreation, holiday events, farmers’ markets and neighborhoods across the South Shore.

After receiving a Regional Pilot Project Grant through the Massachusetts Office of Business Development, the chamber partnered with local towns, businesses and organizations to create a series of excursions that ran throughout the summer.

“Chambers of commerce create community impact, more so now than ever before,” said ACCE President and CEO Sheree Anne Kelly. “Chambers are natural conveners, telling stories that inspire and spur action. That creativity in communications, paired with catalytic leadership within their region, is what earned them this well-deserved recognition.”

“We heard from many residents and businesses that this campaign to get out and explore the South Shore made quite a positive impact,” said Peter Forman, President and CEO of South Shore Chamber of Commerce.  “We continue to support the platform for all to visit and use for their staycation plans. We are honored that it is being recognized by our Chamber peers across the nation.”

The 13 winning entries will now go on to compete for the Best in Show title within their total annual revenue category. The three winning entries will be revealed at ACCE’s annual convention in Indy during the July 27 Awards Show.
