Families, schools, congregations, community groups and corporate sponsors are invited to South Shore Habitat’s First Gingerbread Build on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 pm at Hingham Congregational Church, 378 Main St., Hingham.

Gingerbread house kits will be provided to each team. Teams will be responsible for supplying the decorating supplies to stylize their house. Prizes will be awarded for creative themes.

The Catered Affair of Rockland is donating the gingerbread house kits.

Registration is required to reserve a gingerbread house kit. Teams can register at http://e.givesmart.com/events/oqG before Dec. 6.

Individuals and businesses can also help by donating funds and/or prize items such as gift cards and merchandise. Sponsorships and donations can also be made by going to http://e.givesmart.com/events/oqG.

“In keeping with our motto ‘You don’t have to swing a hammer to help build a home,’ families and groups can have some fun and support South Shore Habitat for Humanity while building a gingerbread house for the holidays,” said Beth Lyons, Executive Director of South Shore Habitat for Humanity.

Proceeds from the event will help South Shore Habitat build two new homes in Hingham in the coming year. Learn more at www.sshabitat.org.
