South Shore Young Professionals has awarded its 2022 $7,500 Foundation Grant to Amanda Gilman, founder of AMG Snacks (www.amgsnacks.com) of Plymouth.

The SSYP Foundation and Entrepreneurial Grant Program was established in 2012 to help develop and support businesses on the South Shore. The annual grant is awarded to for-profit or nonprofit organizations that are located and operating on the South Shore and in business for no more than seven years.

Gilman, who accepted the Foundation Grant during SSYP’s Annual Holiday Party held Dec. 7 at Grille 151 in Weymouth, began the all-natural snack food company out of her kitchen after recognizing the need for easily accessible on-the-go snacks that were not processed.  Today, Boxford Bakehouse in Plymouth is the production site for AMG Snacks, which are available in more than 200 retail locations, including many South Shore retailers such as Slacktide Coffee, Vela Juice Bar, Good Health, Roche Bros., Brothers Marketplace, Big Y and Whole Foods stores.

“We’re delighted to announce Amanda Gilman as this year’s Foundation Grant recipient,” said Bill Kingdon, chair of the SSYP Board of Directors. “ The Foundation Grant is a great opportunity for our organization to help cultivate an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual support throughout our communities along the South Shore, and AMG Snacks is a great example of a South Shore business that recognizes its interconnectedness to its region.  Amanda is the very definition of entrepreneurship and innovation, and we look forward to seeing what she does next!”
