SouthCoast Community Foundation To Host Virtual Summer Fundraiser

Filed Under: Non Profit News, Philanthropy

The SouthCoast Community Foundation will host its biggest event of the year next week on Sept. 11, marking 25 years of philanthropy in the region that included raising and disbursing nearly $5 million for COVID-19 relief.

Summer’s Last Blast will occur online Friday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. with a program that showcases such well-known local performers as the SouthCoast Brass Band and the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra.

The SouthCoast Community Foundation, which matches donors and resources to community needs, has played a key role in the region’s fight against the pandemic. In March, it created the South Coast COVID Relief Fund. With that fund, the foundation was able to award nearly $5 million in grants to organizations on the front lines of the pandemic. These organizations provide food, housing assistance, support for children and youth, and other help to our region’s most vulnerable populations.

Our Summer’s Last Blast celebration is highly anticipated by our many loyal supporters who believe in our mission and value our work together to make a greater impact in our communities that we love and appreciate” said Tricia Grime, development manager at the SouthCoast Community Foundation, “In the past months, we have witnessed the resilience and love of our neighbors through all of the challenges. Now more than ever, we need to celebrate and be thankful for our blessings together as a community.”
