The Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center (CIVOC) will host its second Annual “Stand Down for Veterans – Cape Cod” Friday, Oct. 13, at the HyPort Conference Center, 35 Scudder Ave. in Hyannis, featuring more than 60 vendors.

The event will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and veterans who wish to attend this free event are asked to register at https://www.capeveterans.com/stand-down-application/.

Included among the participants are the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Service Officers, and the Providence Veterans Administration, all of whom will be able to immediately to enroll eligible veterans for the benefits they have earned.

Additionally, the Barnstable County Health Department will offer a free flu clinic, with health screenings, including blood pressure and skin analysis; free haircuts will be offered to veterans by Frankie’s Barbershop, Hairworx and Supercuts; there will be a free lunch with Table Talk Mini-Pies and Polar Seltzers (while they last); and a wide range of professional resources will be offered at no cost to veterans, including housing solutions, resume’ tune-ups, wellness programs, financial and banking advisors, mental health and suicide prevention, and Alzheimer’s dementia caregiver support.

The Hyannis SWAT-mobile, a massage therapy mobile unit, and the Cape Cod Healthcare Bloodmobile will also be present. There will also be a program with a certified life coach, a cooking demo and an essential oil session. Many of these require registration as they are space limited.

Again this year, in partnership with the Cape Cod RTA’s DART, veterans can get a ride to the Stand Down for $3 for seniors. For more information, call the RTA at 800-352-7155.
