The Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center has scheduled a resource fair called “Stand Down for Veterans” Friday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cape Cod Community College, 2240 Iyanough Road, West Barnstable.

The resource fair will feature more than 35 vendors, all of whom serve our military veterans.

Included among the participants are the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Service Officers and the Providence Veterans Administration, all of whom will be able to immediately to enroll eligible veterans for the benefits they have earned.

Additionally, there will also be a no-cost supply depot area for veterans to pick up free toiletries, new clothing and “gently used” clothing, including cold weather gear, blankets and more. Holistic Health Practitioners will be providing reflexology, massage, yoga and reiki for free to veterans.

In partnership with the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority, the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center is providing free transportation to this event for all veterans who wish to attend. Cape Cod Community College is also a regular stop on the RTA’s “Villager” Route 28 bus.

Veterans are asked to preregister by going to www.capeveterans.com and clicking on the Join us at the “Stand Down” banner at the top of the landing page.

The Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center is a tax-deductible, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and was founded in 1983 by a group of Vietnam veterans who did not find the services and programs they needed to successfully transition back to their communities anywhere in our region.
