Join Housing Assistance Corp.’s Virtual Walk For Hope Fundraiser

Housing Assistance Corporation’s third annual Walk for Hope is taking place virtually through June 26 and the nonprofit organization is more than two-thirds towards its $80,000 fund-raising goal for this year’s event.

There’s still time for people to sign up as an individual fundraiser or with a team on Housing Assistance’s website, www.haconcapecod.org.  Housing Assistance will conclude the event on June 26 with a video on its Facebook page highlighting the important role participants and sponsors are having in strengthening our community.

Funds raised will go directly to support Housing Assistance’s programs to keep individuals and families on Cape Cod and the Islands stably housed. Its programs include operating four family shelters, homelessness prevention, developing affordable housing, foreclosure and reverse mortgage counseling, financial literacy classes that include its First-Time Homebuyers Workshop, and free energy audits and weatherization measures for low-income households.

“We’re so grateful for the individuals, teams, and event sponsors who have already stepped up to raise critical funds for us to address the housing crisis on Cape Cod and the Islands,” said Chief Development Officer Anne Van Vleck. “The pandemic has shined a bright light on how important safe, stable housing is to the region’s workforce, families, and seniors who live here year-round. It’s become increasingly more difficult for them to find affordable and attainable housing which is why we’re encouraging people to support this year’s Walk for Hope however they can.”

Donations are also being accepted at www.haconcapecod.org.

Among teams participating in this year’s Walk for Hope are the Falmouth Jewish Congregation, Sotheby’s International Realty, the Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS, Cotuit Federated Church, the First Congregational Church of Falmouth, John Wesley United Church and the Congregational Church of South Dennis.

Trophies and prizes will be given out to the top individual fundraiser and the top fundraising team.
