It’s a new year and a new slogan for The Arc of the South Shore, a family-oriented, community-based non-profit providing information, referrals, and community programs for individuals with disabilities.

“Become a Friend of The Arc” is a message the organization hopes individuals, families, and businesses take to heart through involvement in any number of ways.

For example, donations helps support the essential programs and services The Arc of The South Shore provides to more than 2,000 individuals annually, in addition to the organization’s advocacy on behalf of all those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism.

Volunteers are the foundation of many of The Arc’s community-based programs and enable the non-profit to build stronger, social, recreational and educational programs in the community. Volunteers also find working with individuals to be extremely rewarding. Volunteers include students, business people, family members, employee groups, and many others.

Whether a year-round partnership or an event-specific sponsorship, companies have the opportunity to enhance their image, introduce new products, strengthen business and shareholder relationships, as well as boost employee morale by partnering with The Arc of the South Shore.

The Arc also encourages local businesses to consider hiring individuals with disabilities. The program matches the skills and likes of an individual with the needs of the business.

And since private philanthropy is the foundation of every nonprofit organization, The Arc of the South Shore relies on the generosity of local businesses, organizations, foundations, and individuals to make the difference for all of those it serves.

“Whether by volunteering, becoming a donor, hiring one of our valued clients, or financial donation, we hope that our new slogan ‘Become a Friend of The Arc’ serves as inspiration to become involved in our organization,” said Abigail Parrilla, CEO of The Arc of the South Shore.
