HINGHAM, MA, ISSUED OCTOBER 24, 2024…The Arc of the South Shore, a family-oriented, community-based non-profit providing information, referrals, and community programs for individuals with disabilities, recently held its Employee Appreciation Gala at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham.
The dinner event culminated with the presentation of a total of 17 Making a Difference and Excellence in Leadership awards.
The following 15 employees were honored with Making a Difference awards: Marie Dunn-Catalane, Chelsey Segrin, Jennifer Walsh, Lisa Hall, Lucy Silva, Gwen Cleckley, Sharon Krafton, Maria Midy, Jane Kamau, Mary Kungu, Debbie Manton, Jean Marie Pericles, Holly King, Denise Rawlins, and Lourdes Flores. The employee recognition program distinguishes team members who consistently exceed agency expectations through excellence, creativity, and commitment. The honorees received a check in the amount of $500, an award with their name on it, and special mention in the organization’s publication Messenger.
This year a new award category was established with the inaugural Excellence in Leadership Award going to Karen Velez and Eileen Guilford. The award recognizes employees who exhibit exceptional leadership in guiding individuals, teams, and/or the broader organization. The award recipients received a $1,000 check, their name on an award, and acknowledgement in the Messenger.
“Our staff members are true superheroes who are dedicated to our mission of empowering people with disabilities,” said Brenda Linden, chief strategy and engagement officer with the Arc of the South Shore. “Congratulations to all the award recipients and much gratitude extended for the remarkable work they perform.”
These services include an Autism Resource Center, early intervention program, community supports, employment services, day supports and habilitation programs, in-home care, and residential services. All of their programs are based on their six core values of people first, community, transparency, self-determination, diversity, and respect. The Arc serves participants from communities throughout the South Shore, including Abington, Milton, Quincy, Randolph, Braintree, Weymouth, Hingham, Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, and Norwell. Through their 73-year history, they have helped more than 100,000 people.
