The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod has announced the addition of two small business specialists to oversee the bank’s East Dennis and Sandwich branches.

Melissa M. Marder has been named assistant vice president, branch manager and small business specialist of the East Dennis branch, while Maeghan DeLellis was promoted to vice president, branch manager and small business specialist at the Sandwich branch.

“Our branch managers oversee many things for our customers. For us, it’s essential that our managers are well-versed in assisting local small business owners, which is why we chose these two exceptionally qualified individuals,” said bank Chair, President and CEO Lisa Oliver

“Melissa has proved to be a tremendous asset to our team. She joined us at a pivotal time when the pandemic first hit and immediately began helping small business owners navigate the SBA Paycheck Protection Program. Maeghan has been with us since 2013 in a leadership role and has helped the Bank beef-up our efforts to help the business community ‘reCOOP’ during these challenging times,” Oliver said.

Marder, of West Yarmouth, brings has eight years of banking experience, having previously served as assistant vice president for TD Bank and Bank of America. She also has first-hand experience running a business, having been co-owner of the Aquatic Wildlife Company in Manchester, Conn., where she specialized in selling aquarium fish and fish tanks. She has also served as a teacher at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley.

“She has great banking experience, and she also knows what it takes to run a business. Her commitment to community aligns perfectly with the values we look to cultivate here at The Coop. We are thrilled she is overseeing our East Dennis branch,” Oliver said.

Marder said she relishes her new role, particularly during a time when many small businesses are in crisis.

“With the on-going pandemic many small businesses need assistance. So, it’s especially fulfilling to be in a position to provide small business support and play a role in helping to sustain the Cape’s economy,” Marder said.

DeLellis, a 2002 graduate of Sandwich High School and a current resident of Sandwich, brings 15 years of banking experience to the table, having previously worked as an operations manager for Santander and as a teller manager for Citizens Bank. DeLellis joined The Coop in 2013, first working as a floating supervisor and teller manager at the Yarmouth Port branch. Most recently, she served as branch manager and small business specialist at The Coop’s West Barnstable branch.

“Maeghan knows the ins-and-outs of the banking needs of local small business owners. Already, her experience is vast – enhanced all the more by her deep and abiding connections to Cape Cod’s non-profit community,” Oliver said.

“I am excited to join the Sandwich branch and to join the professional community in which I grew up and am raising my family,” DeLellis said. “I look forward to expanding on relationships I currently have in the community and developing new ones.”
