South Shore Children’s Chorus Awarded $30K Grant

The South Shore Children’s Chorus has a big reason to be thankful this holiday season. The
Deborah Munroe Noonan Memorial Fund (Bank of America, N.A., Trustee), which strives to
improve the lives of children and adolescents with disabilities, has given South Shore Children’s
Chorus a two-year, $30,000 grant.

SSCC’s inclusive, non-audition based acceptance policy for any child who wants to sing has been the way SSCC has operated since its founding in 2016. SSCC has had strong growth over the past few years, more than tripling its enrollment since September 2021, installing an active and dedicated Board of Directors, and hiring a full-time Operations Manager. Additionally, SSCC has added two new locations in Hanover and
Bridgewater and holds high-quality summer programs in chorus and social emotional learning
through the arts.

SSCC’s founder, Kirsten Oberoi, its staff and the board are filled with gratitude
for having been chosen to receive this grant for general operating support – essential support
which will allow more joy for the children who sing in this organization and for those who join in
the future. “I am honored that SSCC was awarded this grant and proud that we align with this
wonderful foundation’s purpose,” said Oberoi.

If you or someone you love would thrive in a joyful musical family, please contact us. SSCC
offers rehearsals in four locations – Quincy, Hanover, Sharon and Bridgewater; 17 classes per
week for over 170 students. No audition is required and financial assistance is offered if needed.
