Forty Massachusetts residents from 24 countries who founded businesses in 18 Massachusetts communities, from Hyannis to Springfield, have been nominated for The 2018 ILC Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards. They are outstanding business leaders who are making their mark in four business categories: growth, neighborhood, high-tech, and life science.
A committee of experts in each area will review the nominations and select a winner in each category, who will be announced at The ILC Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the Royal Sonesta Boston in Cambridge, Mass., with special guest speaker Jay Ash, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and Master of Ceremonies Shannon Dooling, reporter at WBUR. Ticket and sponsorship information is available at www.ilctr.org.
Jitka Borowick, owner of Cleangreen, Inc. in Barnstable, and Ekaterina Morozova, owner of Lash Boutique in Hyannis, were nominated for The 2018 ILC Immigrant Entrepreneur Award.
Jitka Borowick came to the U.S. in 2003 from the Czech Republic to further her education. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she decided to pursue her dream of starting her own business and doing something positive for the environment. In 2008, she opened Cleangreen, a natural cleaning company, out of her home. Today, Cleangreen is a Cape and Islands Green verified business with an office in Barnstable, four cars and a crew of 19 people covering residential and commercial clients throughout Cape Cod. Borowick is now looking to expand business to Nantucket and Falmouth.
Through Cleangreen, Borowick donates funds and in-kind services to many local organizations, including the Cape Cod Commercial Fisherman’s Alliance, Cape Cod Charitable Fundraisers, Calmer Choice, John. F. Kennedy Museum, Cape and Island United Way, Flower Angels USA and Hyannis Rotary Club. She was awarded “40 Under 40” from Cape & Plymouth Business, recognized as one of 10 Inspiring Women by Cape Cod Magazine and awarded Business Woman of the Year in 2015 from Cape & Plymouth Business.
Katrina Morozova is the owner and CEO of Lash Boutique Cape Cod and Plymouth. She is also a founder of Lash Boutique Academy and developer of Lash Boutique Professional product line. Before moving to the United States at age 19, Katrina worked as an eyelash specialist in Russia. At the time, no one was doing lash extensions on Cape Cod. She built a clientele and in 2014 opened her own business. Within six months of operation she was in need of more employees and a bigger space. She now has a staff of 14, two locations of Lash Boutique one is Hyannis and one in Plymouth, and a third location opening in Hyannis in April. Morozova’s influence extends beyond the Cape. Clients drive up to an hour and a half to visit her shops. She also created Eyelash Extension Certification classes, which she now teaches all over the country.
