United Way Seeking Donations For Community Baby Shower

The Cape & Islands United Way will holds its annual Community Baby Shower for families on Cape Cod and the Islands on Sunday, May 7, at Audi Cape Cod, 25 Falmouth Road, Hyannis.

The Community Baby Shower is a celebration for new and expectant mothers. The purpose of the event is to serve low-income families and provide access to valuable local resources and essential supplies that will help give them a stronger start to parenthood. With nearly 15 percent of the Capes children living in poverty, the need is great.

The event was started in 2018 by the Cape & Islands United Way group, Women United.

The Community Baby Shower is so near and dear to my heart. It is by far my favorite event of the year. Our new moms in the community are such wonderful people and are so grateful,” said Jackie Barber, Cape & Islands United Way Community Outreach and Administration Manager.

Corporate sponsors include Premier Companies, Granite City Electric, Cape Cod 5, Lamberts, Macys, Alberto’s and Tosca restaurants and community partners who help connect the United Way with families: A Baby Center, Health Imperatives, and Sandwich Partnership for Families – make the days success possible.

The event is by invitation only. If you are an expectant mother who is interested in attending the 2023 Baby Shower, RSVP here to see if you meet the criteria: capeandislandsuw.org/baby2023

Donations of new baby gear or money are gratefully accepted, or consider volunteering to assemble gift baskets, serving at the shower or with making deliveries. Contact Jackie Barber for family wish lists and other ways to get involved at jbarber@uwcapecod.org
