Veterans Center’s New Food Distribution Center To Be Dedicated

The Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center will dedicate its new Food Distribution Center Friday, Dec. 16, at 223 Stevens St., Hyannis.

This 1,200-square-foot facility is the first food distribution center specifically dedicated to serving only the veteran community and their families.

Since the pandemic began in 2020, the local veteran community and their families have been more dependent upon the availability of healthy food resources as well as home delivery to homebound veterans. Currently, the Food Distribution Center provides food for 13 regional food banks and countless home deliveries. We anticipate opening additional food pantries in the next quarter.

The ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. with local and state dignitaries in attendance. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and pastries will be served for all those who attend and there will be tours of the new facility.
