WE CAN has announced that it will be opening a program delivery space in Hyannis in early 2023.
Executive Director Lisa Guyon disclosed WE CAN’s plans at this morning’s annual Community Breakfast.
“With a stronger presence in the Mid-Cape, in addition to our Harwich headquarters, we will increase opportunities for women to participate in our program offerings in-person, virtually and through multilingual channels,” Guyon explained.
At the Hyannis location, women will be offered workshops, one on one consultations focusing on legal issues, work and career support, personal development, small business support and financial empowerment. Group offerings including the Pathmaker mentoring program and the GROW program for women entrepreneurs, will also be offered. Select programs will be offered in Portuguese, with bilingual staff and volunteers available to assist non-English speaking participants.
Thursday’s Community Breakfast was a large gathering of WE CAN’s participants, volunteers, community partners and supporters. The event represents an opportunity each year for WE CAN to recognize those who have helped women achieve and advance throughout the year.
This year’s awards went to: Cynthia Dauphin of Falmouth as Distinguished Volunteer, the Cape Cod Foundation in South Yarmouth as Exceptional Community Partner and Judy and Bernard Cornwell of Chatham as Celebrated Supporters. Anne D. LeClaire of Chatham was recognized with the Debbie Todd Award for Exceptional Volunteer Service, a special award given to recognize and honor exceptional volunteerism by an individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and service to WE CAN over many years.
“It is with the continued contributions of individuals like these that we are able to support so many women on Cape Cod,” noted Guyon. “They enable us to move forward with our goal of empowering women and families in our community to thrive.”
