Wild Care Receives TernSOLAR Challenge Grant

Wild Care Receives a $21,191 TernSOLAR Challenge Grant
from Tern Foundation. Help us meet the challenge.

Wild Care is the recipient of a $21,191.00 TernSOLAR challenge grant from Tern Foundation, based in Massachusetts. The funds will support the addition of solar panels on the roof of the new expansion project building. The solar panels will be installed by My Generation Energy. To match the grant, Wild Care needs to raise an additional $21,191.00 from the community. The remaining cost of the project will take advantage of the ‘Direct Pay’ 30% reimbursement provision of the newly implemented federal Inflation Reduction Act, supporting nonprofit organization’s ability to invest in solar installation.

REINVESTING ENERGY SAVINGS INTO SAVING WILDLIFE
The proposed array is 22 panels, totaling 9.3kw, and covers the entire southwest-facing portion of the building’s sloped roof. The array’s production will cover roughly 88% of the building’s electricity usage. As the direct owner Wild Care will be able to reinvest electric savings into mission driven programs for many years to come. The projected annual electric savings is more than $5,000, and $100,000 plus over 20 years. In addition to financial benefits, solar energy is also an investment in the environment reducing air pollution, greenhouse gases, and helps mitigate climate change.
