Willowbend Launches Member-Driven, Philanthropic Initiative

Willowbend, a premier private club in Mashpee and part of Southworth Development, has announced the launch of Willowbend Gives, a member-driven philanthropic initiative aimed at better connecting the members of Willowbend to the surrounding community they’ve called home for the last 30 years.

The program has been developed in partnership with The Cape Cod Foundation, a local organization that works to strengthen and enrich the lives of those in their community by creating charitable funds that bring resources and generate broad regional impact.

The Willowbend Gives initiative is largely derived from Southworth Development Chairman Joseph Deitch’s long-standing commitment to philanthropy across various arenas around the world. Deitch is the founder of the Elevate Prize Foundation, which identifies, empowers and celebrates social impact leaders globally whose ideas and endeavors elevate humanity, inspire others, and result in real change. With Willowbend Gives, Deitch, a Boston native, is focusing efforts locally and inviting Willowbend members to strengthen their connectivity to the Cape Cod community through philanthropy.

The Deitch Family will match 100 percent of member contributions up to $100,000. Similar member-led charitable concepts will eventually be rolling out at all six of Southworth Development’s private communities worldwide.

Over the course of the summer, The Cape Cod Foundation will introduce various local causes and change-makers to the Willowbend community, focusing on high-impact organizations in a variety of fields. At the end of the summer, donation allocations will be determined exclusively by Willowbend member vote.

“Local organizations have a deep understanding of critical community needs and are key to bringing innovative solutions that address these challenges. I am so proud of the Willowbend community for partnering with the Cape Cod community to enact change and am honored to be able to support this work,” said Deitch. “I know from experience that all Willowbend Gives participants will be enormously inspired and enriched by the experience.”

Members and the local finalist organizations will come together for an end-of-summer party on Sept. 9 where they will be presented with a check from the Willowbend community—symbolizing the close of this ‘summer of giving’ and the celebration of the Cape Cod community to which Willowbend is deeply connected.
