(HYANNIS, MA) – Cape Cod’s largest one-day spectator event is turning the big 3-0!
Thirty years ago in 1994, a group of business leaders dared to dream about hosting a car show along Main St. in Hyannis to help welcome the summer and infuse economic activity into the region.
Three decades later, the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Father’s Day Car Show on Sunday, June 15th, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring over 350 classic cars, ranging from antiques to muscle cars, resto-mods and more.
Over the past 30 years, the event has grown into one of New England’s largest classic car shows, regularly attracting up to 50,000 people, creating a big boost for local merchants as Cape Cod kicks off the summer tourism season.
Hyannis Main St. businesses and restaurants will be open for shopping and dining and various food trucks will be available throughout the show.
“Attracting classic cars and spectators from across New England, the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Father’s Day Show is without doubt one of Cape Cod’s most popular yearly events. Not only is it a showcase for some of the most amazing automobiles around, it is also an important economic driver for the Town of Barnstable and beyond,” said Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Marty Bruemmel.
Angel’s Touch Auto Body and Detail will once again be hosting a display of priceless classic vehicles around the Hyannis Village Green that will amaze all classic car aficionados. A live band will also play on the green.
As he has since the first show in 1994, Mecum Auto Auctions TV Host Bill Stephens, who in addition to his TV hosting work, is a nationally published author of several motorsports books, will be on hand for the show. Stephens, who has an extensive history in radio broadcasting and is a writer for various automotive television programs, was one of the founders of the show in 1994.
To kick off the high-octane weekend, head to Patriot Square on Route 134 in Dennis on Saturday, June 13th, 2024, at 5p.m. for the Cape Cod Classics Car Club Saturday night show. The Cape Cod Classics Car Club has been an invaluable partner with the Father’s Day Show since its inception, providing dozens of volunteers the day of the event.
