Cape Cod, MA – May 7, 2024 – The Second Summer Cycle event is gearing up to welcome over 500 road cyclists on September 15th, 2024, promising not only a picturesque journey through 11 historic Cape Cod towns, but a strong commitment to rider safety.
Second Summer Cycle is the perfect event for riders of all levels. It offers three distances (33, 66, and 100 miles) and culminates with a celebration at Motta Field in beautiful Provincetown. The celebration will feature musical guests Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys, food trucks, and beverages provided by Barnstable Brewing Company.
Nineteen Cape Cod non-profit organizations will benefit from the monies generated by the riders, each of whom is asked to raise at least $250 for their non-profit of choice or the group as a whole. “We are thrilled to have the ability to offer cycling enthusiasts an end-of-summer ride with diverse terrains and beautiful views while creating an opportunity for them to give to non-profits that provide essential programs and services to those on Cape Cod, ” said David Troutman, Chair of the Board. “We consider this event to be a win-win situation for all who participate.”
Organizers emphasize that this ride is for both new and experienced cyclists. Signage, dedicated volunteers, and a Police presence will be throughout. Ample hydration and nutrition stops will be strategically positioned along the course, along with medical and physical therapy stations equipped with tents and tables to ensure participants’ comfort and well-being.
“The safety and comfort of our participants are our top priorities,” said Event Director W. Patrick Lentell. “We want every rider to have a memorable experience exploring the stunning landscapes of Cape Cod while feeling supported and secure.”
As preparations for the event continue, organizers seek sponsors to support this exciting endeavor. With packages to fit all budgets, sponsors will collaborate with a highly visible, rapidly growing event to benefit nineteen deserving charities.
